August 2011 — Water Conservation
Wow. Those of the more than 3,000 of us in Los Osos who've opened our water bill last month in got a big surprise, in the form of a water rate increase. If that wasn't enough, the water company has made application to do so again in 2013, 2014, and 2015. According to these documents, Los Ososians have gone up from 24 to 30 percent. In its ruling, Golden State Water cited supply and operating expenses, and maintenance costs to justify the increase.
California water suppliers raising or requesting rate increases range from as far north as Yuba City, south to San Diego. For Californians, the message is clear; get ready to pay more for your water.
